Friends Committees

Volunteers are the cornerstone of Friends of Reinstein Woods. You can join a committee to help sustain Friends of Reinstein Woods and help people share in nature’s harmony. These committed volunteers generally meet every other month and provide vital support that allows Reinstein Woods to thrive. 

DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Development Committee supports the Friends’ mission by assisting the Development and Marketing Associate with events and other fundraising activities. We meet about once every other a month. Outside of the meetings, committee members may:

  • Assist at fundraising events
  • Solicit donations for raffles
  • Promote ways to give to Reinstein Woods
  • Communicate with vendors for fundraising events
  • Coordinate volunteers for fundraising events

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

The membership committee brings in new ideas to improve our membership program. Our meetings involve:

  • Discussing ways to improve our membership program to increase and retain members
  • Brainstorming ideas for new members-only programs
  • Enhancing member benefits
  • Planning members-only programs

Outside of the meetings, committee members may:

  • Contact guest speakers
  • Assist at members-only programs
  • Lead member-only programs on a topic they are proficient in

FINANCE COMMITTEE

The Finance Committee protects the financial interests of Friends of Reinstein by: managing financial accounting and internal controls, managing the board-approved annual budget, advising the board on staff compensation, and ensuring timely and accurate filing of annual tax returns and reports. The committee meets on a bi-monthly basis.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION COMMITTEE (DEI)

Friends of Reinstein Woods is committed to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment where all board members, staff, volunteers, members, and visitors feel respected and valued regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation or identity, disability, education, or any other bias.

The DEI Committee works to implement several aspects of Friends of Reinstein Woods’ Diversity Policy, especially: 

  • Actively recruiting to improve diversity, inclusion and equity in our board and leadership positions
  • Network with other organizations that are also committed to efforts to engage underrepresented constituents in our programs and services
  • Train ourselves, our staff and volunteers on equitable practices and cultural competencies.
